Hi!
I'm jokeing with the new image manipulation function present in Hollywood5 like OilPaint, Blur, etc...
They was nice but theres a annoing behaviour...
Whe you give that function a radius value really complex while Hollwood havent finished to elaborate the image the system was completely locked(you can neither move the mouse pointer...) adn no CTRL + C was recognized...
That was an intentional behaviour?
Hope not since wasa really big probelm imho...

Re: Image manipulation functions system lock...
With these new functions we can programming a single Picture program handle as there are in Windows, but there are more effects that in this Hollywood 5 still aren't present.

@tuxedo
Yeah its a shame they hog the CPU just to themselves and seem to lock the pointer as well.
In a future version it would also be beneficial to the developer if these same commands had callback functions (like with e.g. CopyFile) so that the developer could potentially provide visual feedback to the user e.g. a progress/image processing bar.
I've already started adding as many of the new Brush commands as I can into Jack's image editor. I'll probably stick with fixed radians/levels because of the CPU-hog and besides the image editor in Jack is only meant to be simple. AmigaOS users can use a more dedicated image tool like LoView (or similar) if they want highly tweakable image effects, contrast, hues and everything else using adjustable sliders.

Re: Image manipulation functions system lock...
Yes, the image manipulating functions will block until they are finished and the script can't do anything else while an image processing operation is in progress.
The mouse pointer locking is bad though, but that's only on OS4. It won't occur on any other system. I'll ask the OS4 team if there's an reason for OS4 to behave in this way. You can circumvent the mouse pointer locking on OS4 by running Hollywood with the USEWPA argument but that's not a good solution because other things will be slower with USEWPA. Let's hear what the OS4 devs say about the mouse locking behaviour first.

@Andreas
sigh...
The annoiing bad 2D subsystem of OS4 issue
Hope really that on AmigaOS4.2(I've no hope sfor 4.1) things will change!
On OS4.x we have SLOW image load (about 20/30% against MOS on same machine), "waves" scroll weird issues like that...
I'm s bit tyred...
PS Plz tell us how OS4 devs say ASAP you know that...

Re: Image manipulation functions system lock...
Well, I haven't got a reply yet. Maybe you should ask in the Hyperion forums about it
Re: Image manipulation functions system lock...
mmm...
I asked many times about Hollywood speed issues vs MOS, and also the wider JPG image loading...
No realy explanations of that
Here the topic regarding image loading:
http://forum.hyperion-entertainment.biz ... f=14&t=749
And here the the speed issues:
http://forum.hyperion-entertainment.biz ... f=14&t=496
If neither you get good replyes dunno how to do...
I get the explanation of the image loading issue only via AmigaWorld.net thanks to Karlos...
Hope that you get some nice reply asap...
