[02 Jul 2008] Upgrade Path for Hollywood 1.5? Also...

I purchased Hollywood 1.5 quite sometime ago for my Pegasos2 with MorphOS. I didn't make much use of it then, but now that I upgraded to MorphOS 2.0 (demo) I thought I might try again. I went to the airsoftsoftwair.de website and see that Hollywood is up to 3.x but I didn't find any upgrade discounts for people who have 1.x. I am also interested in Designer. Any recommendations about what I might do?

I also tried running some of 1.5's demo scripts but got a "no bullet.library" error. I think bullet.library is from classic Amiga OS. Is this just a fonts issue that I can work around?

Thanks,

Hello Daniel,

On the English version of the website there shows a Hollywood 3 upgrade from 1.x for 69 euros with a total savings of 10 euros from the original price of 79 euros.

I'm in the same situation as you except that I upgraded from 1.5 for the classics to 1.9 on AmigaOS 4 and still never used it. Now I've completed my 4 year degree in computer science and probably will never use it since I'm working on a free open-source Basic compiler in C++.

Ever since Hollywood switched over to the Lua source-base, I've lost interest in the project. I still monitor the forum to see if there is any progress and SCUI is interesting but with the US dollar so weak I'd better lay off on the big purchases.

It's nice to hear that I'm not the only one,

--Sam
I'm on registered MorphOS using FlowStudio.

As Samuel already said, the upgrade price from 1.x to 3.1 is 69 Euros. Please see http://www.airsoftsoftwair.com/ for details.

Yes, you could install bullet.library from your Workbench 3.1 disks and it should work. Keep in mind though that Hollywood 1.5 is really very outdated. Hollywood 1.5 was compiled using MorphOS 0.4 on my A1200 and it uses lots of deprecated functions.

The real Hollywood experience under MorphOS starts with Hollywood 2.0 and up because these versions are optimized for MorphOS 1.4+.

Oh, then you missed the best part of it :) Really, Hollywood 2.0 and up is nothing like the old 1.x versions. I'm not doing advertising... just telling the truth. Hollywood 1.x was really pretty limited in what it could do.

Hello Miller

I can really recomend both hollywood 3.1 and Designer 2.1 - the improvements are massive compared to the earlier versions!
