Hello,
At the Colmar show I played a lot with Hollywood for the first time.
I like it very much but there's something I really don't understand. Why are there a .hwd and a .hws???
I tried to save my job twice and I didn't see any changes when I executed the script. I started to become angry against Hollywood when I checked the file dates and I understood that HW didn't save the script.
Is this really needed?
And also, I tried to do a change in the script and loading back into Designer. My change was lost. It was a loop in an IFF anim. I set it to 5000 but Designer set it again to its max value: 51. If a change in a script gets lost, I don't see any reason to use a script then. :-/
It doesn't change that Hollywood is an incredible piece of software that I'll will buy as soon as 4.0 is released.
Thanks.

hws files contain code for Hollywood. Hollywood Designer generates hws files automatically from hwd files.

Well, this may all sound a little bit confusing but I'm sure you'll understand the difference as soon as you have Hollywood & Designer on your system.
hwd is the file format used for Hollywood Designer projects. It simply describes the number of slides in a Designer project.Hello,

If you save your project, only the hwd file will be modified. The hws file will only be modified if you run the presentation or explicitly use "Save script.." in the menu.I tried to save my job twice and I didn't see any changes when I executed the script. When using Hollywood Designer you are not allowed to make changes directly in the hws file. You need to do everything using Hollywood Designer. Hollywood Designer is *not* able to import hws files. This is technically impossible because you can do a lot more in hws than you can do in hwdAnd also, I tried to do a change in the script and loading back into Designer. My change was lost. There's a timeline with events where opening a page is just an event like others. It gives much more flexibility, IMO.
Not automatically as you have to select "Save script" :-p In other words, maybe you can make the menu item "Save" to save both hwd and hws.hws files contain code for Hollywood. Hollywood Designer generates hws files automatically from hwd files.
Do you know why? It's because Hollywood is stuck to pages, like Powerpoint. Do you remember AmigaVision? http://encanta.avalonsoftware.org/idgaw ... lti5gr.jpgWhen using Hollywood Designer you are not allowed to make changes directly in the hws file. Well, saving the hws takes a little bit longer that's why it's not automatically done. But I could an option for it.Not automatically as you have to select "Save script" :-p In other words, maybe you can make the menu item "Save" to save both hwd and hws.
I've never worked with Amigavision but in Hollywood Designer opening a page is also an event. You can also create very flexible menu designs using Designer.Do you know why? The most important thing would be to adapt the GUI depending on what you have in the .hws I had a .hws with a loop of 5000. Every time I used Designer and I saved the script, the value of loop was overwritten with the max value of Designer: 51. So I had to manually modify the script again

As I said before, that's not possible. Hws files can't be loaded back into Designer. They're of an arbitrary structure that can't be mapped to Designer's slide based design without going to great pains. The concept of Designer is that you don't have to mess with hws files at all. So, if you want to work with hws, use Hollywood insteadThat would be nice, IMO.
