Hi,
some people reported me problems with BoingPairs although it has been tested thoroughly on MorphOS and AmigaOS4.1 Update2...

1) AROS - my AROS betatesters reported that when tried to launch BP it says : "Screen size 288x29146x24 not supported by current monitor settings!"
or it wants a 1x26426x24 screen...


2) MorphOS - krashan on Amigaworld.net reported this message : "Screen size 29661 x 11268 x 32 not supported by current monitor settings!".

3) OS4 - kas1e reported this message : "sync out of range".

so that's strange, isn't it ?

i should add that there are 3 BGPics in Boing Pairs. Two are preloaded and one is created and the script starts like this :

@BGPIC 1, "bgpic1.jpg"
@BGPIC 2, "bgpic2.jpg"
CreateBGPic(3, 1280,1024, #black)

LoadBrush(1,"brush+.iff")
etc.. (loading 60 more brushes)

DisplayBGPic(3)

So I don't understand at all where the problem is , no one else reported such an error...

I have seen those errors on my first version of sokoban game. I figured it had something to do with game level resolution dimensions being bigger than physical screen resolution. Windows version didn't give those errors, instead it just didn't display the whole game level (some was cut off).

My solution was to resize game tiles smaller.

Well, the errors make sense because the resolution is far too large. Seems like you're using some huge BGPic somewhere. If you don't then post some code to prove me wrong but make the code very very small

thanx for your replies...but i have to disagree with both of you

If BoingPairs were coded wrong or if there was a bug in Hollywood then the game wouldn't work at all on ANY system even on mine!!! I do't use any huge pictures, my monitor and gfx card are able to display 1280x1024x24 screen maximally so even if i wanted to use a bigger pic it wouldn't be possible! To be honest - i think that they don't have this screenmode available or setuped in their systems...because since the release BoingPairs1.0 has been downloaded 300times and version 1.1 195 times and we have only 2 people who reported bug?? So i think it's some problem on their systems...

So BoingPairs run in 1280x1024x24 full screen.. here is a short excerpt directly from the very first lines of the original sourcecode :

Both bgpic1 and BGpic2 are 1280x1024x24 painted with TVPaint so there are no huge pics... sorry to repeating it again and again but I DO insist on the fact that if it is a bad code or a bug, it wouldn't work at all... so If BoingPairs runs on your systems without problems I think it's really a problem of their systems not hollywood itself...
