Tested on emulated OS4.1, and it doesn't seem to like the colors either unfortunately.

Maybe an emulation issue. OS4, MorphOS, and AROS definitely support true colour mouse pointers with alpha transparency (32-bit). It's only OS3 which is limited to 4 colour mouse pointers because on OS3 mouse pointers are hardware sprites.

I'm using OS4.1 for Classic Amigas, could that be the cause? Even if it's using a true color rtg mode?
AROS seems to support hi-color pointers, yes.
