Protect bit setting for Amiga Plugins

Post by TheMartian »

Hi

I am not sure if this is a bug at all, or there may be some reason for it, and besides I dont' thing it makes much difference ....

Anyway, here we go...after having updated to HW 6.1 I loaded all the current 21 plugins for the Amiga and installed them using the provided installer program. When I 'list'ed all the hwp files in the LIbs:hollywood directory I noticed that all but two have the protect bits set like this:

--p-rwed

The two exceptions are - httpstreamer.hwp and ahx.hwp. For these two files the bits are set as:

h---rwed

According to the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AmigaDOS it says:

"H = Hold (reentrant commands with the P-bit set will automatically become resident on first execution. Requires E, P and R bits set to work."

As I read it, the 'H' bit only makes sense if the 'E','R' and 'P' bits are also set, which is not the case here for those two files.

regards
Jesper

Hmm, right, this is probably because those plugins are all packaged on a non-Amiga system so it seems like some attributes got mixed up. I'll see if there's a way to get only RWED on the plugins as it should be.
