Taking into consideration the new enhancements, how close is Designer to a simple text processing tool or an advanced vector graphics editor?
Have you ever thought about using parts of Designer's code to create another tools?

Well, a word processor is definitely out of question because that needs much more code that isn't there yet. A vector graphics editor based largely on existing Designer code could probably be done but it's rather unlikely to happen because I'm too busy with all my other projects already :)

It already perfectly works a a simple static page designer, so it would be enough to add a PDF export. Is there a way to export Designer pages to a PDF document?

No, that's currently not possible. But you can export slides to a picture.
