Taking into consideration the new enhancements, how close is Designer to a simple text processing tool or an advanced vector graphics editor?
Have you ever thought about using parts of Designer's code to create another tools?

Well, a word processor is definitely out of question because that needs much more code that isn't there yet. A vector graphics editor based largely on existing Designer code could probably be done but it's rather unlikely to happen because I'm too busy with all my other projects already

It already perfectly works a a simple static page designer, so it would be enough to add a PDF export. Is there a way to export Designer pages to a PDF document?

No, that's currently not possible. But you can export slides to a picture.
