Amiberry, Amikit, & Manjaro Linux desktop

Post by leavereality »

So been enjoying the newly release Amikit XE Pi Edition. I was hoping to make my Ami Lion app ( https://leavereality.uk/product/amilion-1-0/ ) for this program but ran into problem, (I think it might be Amiberry issue) related the program will run but when I click to basically change page its saying "Table field 1 was not initialized! in function: p_runevtlist", now I not been able to recreate this error on OS4, Amikit XE on Windows /WinUAE setup and Windows native version. I also tried it on Pimiga 1.5 same error.

The same error came up when I tried to run other Hollywood Demo too. So anything you can think of that the issue?

Also Amikit XE run on top of Manjaro Linux desktop xfce, ( https://manjaro.org/download/ ) I quickly tried to see if a Hollywood LinuxARM program would run, but it come up with "failed to execute child process" I quickly tried on TwisterOS ( https://twisteros.com/ ) and it run fine. Any ideas.

Cheers (sorry if this is posted in the wrong area of the site)

Have you tried disabling JIT in amiberry CPU settings?
I have experienced problems earlier with Hollywood apps on amiberry that only apeared when having JIT enabled.

I have reported this bug at the amiberry github site a while back, and amiberry developer midwan did forward the bug to uae4arm developer PandTomB (who also does the JIT part).
https://github.com/midwan/amiberry/issues/620

Some of the JIT problems seem to have been fixed in the 64 bit version, but I still experience issues running some of my Hollywood games when JIT is enabled. Eg the FPU version of RNOPDF did have problems on amiberry with JIT. Latest builds for 64 bit runs without issues. You might be lucky with your problem.
To test this you need to use the Manjaro 64 bit image for your Rpi4, and compile the latest amiberry-dev version.
Or if your program is compiled for FPU, you might try to compile it for plain 68k and see if it helps.

If you still have problems with the latest amiberry-dev, it might be helpful if you reported your findings at the mentioned github thread.
