MakeButton and DoubleBuffer Displays

Hi Is it correct, that if I have a DoubleBuffer display I cannot use MakeButton() to create zones for mouseevents? The regular eventhandler responds to mouse events (if set up to do so). But if I include a MakeButton statement, I am told that - 'A BGPIC needs to be active when calling button functio...

Must I use Display 1 for HW acc. stuff

Hi Was there a comment at some time to the effect, that you have to use Display 1 for HW accelerated stuff and GLGALORE? I ask because if I replace the value for the constant that holds my display number from 1 to another number,when I set up my display, it acts as if I was using SW brushes etc. and...

Re: HW scrolling - What should I expect?

Hi Ok. I was testing in Windows mode. With Fullscreen mode it is much better. The original test ran smoothly, so I decided to see if there was a limit somewhere. I set up a 1920 * 1200 display and painted it over twice with tiles in size 128 pixels (six corners, so there is some overlap). To do so a...

HW scrolling - What should I expect?

Hi Having replaced a 6000 series Radeon in my X1000 with a RadeonHD R7 250X 1 Gb graphics card and getting the newly released 3D driver I was curious to see how good scrolling of large areas worked using HW acceleration. I am a great fan of Civilization and wanted to see if I could make a smooth scr...

GL galore and SelectBrush()

Hi Seing that simply adding the @REQUIRE "glgalore" statement would 'divert' programs with hardware brushes to GL statements, I of course immediately wanted to try this. The program used for testing creates among other things a big hardware brush as a fixed background and then paints to that brush w...

Re: Can not get GL Galore working

Hi On my SAM440ep the examples provided with the GLgalore plugin does work with its old 9250 128 Mb graphics card. The computationally complex ones are sort of sluggish. But they run. Unfortunately the graphics card in the X1000 fail with the "Unable to open window" already mentioned in this discuss...

Re: Any way to listitems through tables?

Hi I asked myself the same question a few days ago and came up with the following solution... The code iterates through the list using the Pairs() iterator and simply counts the number of iterations. So in this case the answer you get is 3. Be aware that any item in the table set to NIL does not cou...

Re: CX Hotkey is not Tooltype based *shock*

Hi As far as I can establish, it does work on my X1000. If I set the icon for my executable to "start from" = Workbench and add a CXKEY=alt F12 tool type, and click the icon the Hotkey event will trigger when the program runs. This also works if I set it to "Start from" = Shell and unset the 'Prompt...

Re: Bug in SetDisplayAttributes()---Hollywood 5.2

Hi Thanks! Case solved. You were spot on with the advice about compositing effects. Set Systems/Prefs/GUI preferences/effects/Enable (3D acceleration required), and the transparency thing works with BGPics too on my Radeon HD 6570 gfx card. So I won't have to install the old 9250 card to use that ef...

Re: Bug in SetDisplayAttributes()---Hollywood 5.2

Some further info...

Transparency does work with brushes on my X1000. But still no luck with a BGPic.
