Theora plugin limitations?

Post by SamuraiCrow »

I downloaded the following Ogg Theora file to my hard drive on an AMD64 Linux box: https://download.blender.org/durian/tra ... r-720p.ogv . I have Ogg Vorbis, Ogg Theora, GL Galore and RapaGUI plugins installed. I can hear the audio when I try playing it with the RapaGUI VideoPlayer example but the screen is black. I can view the file in the Chrome browser on the same hardware and OS so I know the file is ok. Are there limitations on the Ogg Theora plugin or RapaGUI that would disallow the video from playing?

Update: It's not the Theora plugin but instead it is the RapaGUI plugin, version 1.2. When using the Hollywood video player example instead of the RapaGUI one, it works.

This is a known problem with RapaGUI on GTK. When there is much load on the CPU, there can be refresh issues. Unfortunately, fixing it requires some major changes in both Hollywood and RapaGUI so this is something I'm planning to do for a 2.0 version of RapaGUI.
