Functions for writing and reading settings

Hi,

I'm requesting functions for writing and reading settings in Mac OS X environment. I noticed that there are ReadRegistryKey and WriteRegistryKey functions for Windows environment, but no functions which would allow reading and writing settings in OS X environment.
